Since 2007, "iCarly" has been a popular series for Nickelodeon. The series revolves around Carly Shay (played by Miranda Cosgrove) and her best friend Samantha Puckett (played by Jennette McCurdy) who are the host of their popular web show "iCarly" which is edited and directed by Freddie Benson (played by Nathan Kress). Most of the scenes are shot at the home of Carly, who lives with her older brother and legal guardian, Spencer (played by Jerry Trainor).

Created and executive produced by Dan Schneider (creator of series "Drake & Josh", "Zoey 101', "Kenan & Kel", "All That", "The Amanda Show"), "iCarly" is currently on their third season and on January 18, 2010, an episode titled "iSaved Your Life" became the highest rated live action telecast in Nickelodeon history (with 11.2 million viewers) and the #1 telecast of all TV (cable and broadcast) that night.

Needless to say, the show is a big success for the cable network and now "iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx" is planned for release on March 30, 2010.

The latest DVD includes two iCarly movies from the second season and two episodes from the third. Included on "iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx" are:

* EPISODE 45 - "iFight Shelby Marx" - In this TV movie, Carly was talking a little trash on her web show about the martial-arts champ Shelby Marx. When Shelby comes to visit her, Carly is afraid that she is going to get beaten up but finds out that Shelby wants to join forces with Carly in a one round match for charity and that she will not hurt her at all. But during the press conference, Carly accidentally falls on Shelby's grandmother offstage and Nevel Papperman takes advantage of the situation and now Shelby wants to hurt her in the ring.
* EPISODE 40 - "iDate a Bad Boy" - In this TV movie, Carly starts dating a bad boy named Griffin who tried to steal Spencer's motorcycle. Spencer prohibits Carly from dating him but she tries to sneak behind his back. Meanwhile, Carly learns a major secret about her Griffin.
* EPISODE 36 - "iLook Alike" - Carly, Sam and Freddie want to interview an MMA fighter Jackson Colt but Freddie's mom forbids him to go to an MMA fight and also Spencer forbids Carly from going as well. So, the three come up with an idea to find lookalikes to stand for them while they do the interview.
* EPISODE 49 - "iCarly Awards" - Carly, Sam and Freddie present the first "iCarly Awards" for fans who have sent in videos but on the day of the Award show, Spencer mistakens Carly's request to create ten awards by creating one huge award. Now, Spencer must find a way to create them in a short amount of time, while Carly and Sam improvise the award show until each award is finished.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

"iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx" is presented in standard definition and in full screen. Picture quality is good considering there are two movies, two episodes and a pilot episode of "Big Time Rush" included on the DVD. There is compression artifacting and edge enhancement but for the audience being targeted, I doubt many will be that picky over picture quality.

Audio is presented in English stereo and dialogue and music is clear as it comes from the front channels. Dialogue is understandable and experienced no major problems during viewing.

My young son was a big "Drake & Josh" fan and has since graduated from that series and now enjoys "iCarly".

Many times, I have watched the show along with him and he enjoys the humor of the series and needless to say, he loves the series. Upon reviewing this DVD, I admit I was surprised when I read the back cover and he instantly knew some of the episodes by memory. So, I would assume these have been replayed quite a bit on Nickelodeon.

For "iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx", I feel that this is a solid release for those who are fans of the show (or parents curious about purchasing the series for their kids) when it comes to content. Two movies, two episodes and a bonus pilot episode for "Big Time Rush" is included.

As for the parents who are wondering if the episodes are safe for the children, depending on their age, there is no major violence but there may be some content that parents may not want their younger children to see. The episodes are not rated but I'll point out a few things that may be of concern to some parents who are considering of buying this DVD for younger children.

There are two episodes that deal with martial fighters, in "iFight Shelby Marx", Carly gets a light in the face and in "iLook Alike", a fighter throws Spencer through a table. In two episodes, Carly goes against her brother (legal guardian) when he tells her to stop seeing the bad boy in "iDate a Bad Boy" and finding lookalikes to substitute for them on the "iLook Alike" episode. In the pilot episode of "Big Time Rush", you have four guys singing a song about "turd".

Personally, the series and episodes featured on this DVD are nothing for parents to worry about but if the descriptions of scenes I mentioned above causes concern, especially if you were considering of buying this for a 5-9 year old child, then perhaps parental guidance is suggested.

Overall, "iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx" was an entertaining DVD. Again, my young son absolutely loves this show and he enjoyed watching the episodes (again) on DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if other children are feel the same way and seeing how the ratings are pretty strong for "iCarly", many will have interest for this DVD.

Two TV movies, two episodes from "iCarly" and one bonus pilot episode of "Big Time Rush" on one DVD for a great price. If you or if you are a parent of a child who loves "iCarly", "iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx" is a DVD worth checking out.

"School Of Rock" is nothing less than the feel-good movie of the year. It's fitting that the movie is filled with blatant AC/DC worship, because it's very much like one of that band's albums: it's excessive and often lowbrow, but you can't help but enjoy it because it's so full of energy and enthusiasm. And most importantly of all, it doesn't take itself too seriously. Whether intentionally or not, director Richard Linklater and co. deal a major backhanded slap to all the sissified nu-metal and post-grunge "sensitive guy" bands currently dominating the airwaves, reminding us all that rock music is supposed to be fun and ultimately uplifting.

First of all, if "School Of Rock" doesn't make Jack Black a star, nothing will. Black gives one of the most lovably over-the-top performances in history as Dewey Finn, an aspiring metal musician who poses as his friend Ned in order to get a substitute teaching job at a posh elementary school. From the opening scene at a rock club, where Dewey launches into a frenzied guitar solo, whips off his shirt, and attempts a stage dive into an apathetic crowd, Black is a whirlwind of manic energy. Much like Jim Carrey, Black doesn't just play the demented role: he means it, and the authenticity he brings to the movie makes all the diference. Quick, think of another guy who could pull off the role this well. This is Black's show, and he knows it.

When Dewey takes a position teaching the uptight children of uptight parents, the stage is set for a classic fish-out-of-water comedy. Many of the movies' funniest moments come early on, when the overweight, disheveled Dewey and his privileged students can't quite figure out what to make of each other. The plot?

... Realizing that some of his students have musical talent, Dewey, under the guise of a school project, gets them to start up a rock outfit to compete at the local battle of the bands. Along with the way he teaches them plenty about the history of rock and its value for, among other things, "fighting the man." Naturally, the kids, their parents, and the school's principal (played by Joan Cusack, who would steal the movie if Black didn't), all learn valuable lessons about taking chances and enjoying life.

This plot may sound rather hackneyed, but "School Of Rock" doesn't succeed by avoiding cliches; it succeeds my embracing them with all the vigor and passion of Dewey playing a guitar solo. The movie's overbearing earnestness, which I typically find to be more of a turnoff than a woman with bigger muscles than me, turns out to be its greatest asset. The reason? Because "School Of Rock" conveys the too-often-forgotten lesson that people need to lighten up, and rock music has long been a valuable device for doing just that. At its heart, the film's message is simple but enormously effective: that Rock 'n' Roll really just might be able to change the world.

It all comes to a head in the film's monster conclusion, with Dewey donning an Angus Young-styled schoolboy uniform for the Battle of the Bands. Black absolutely owns the stage in this scene; there's no way the image of him performing won't be indelibly etched in the minds of all who see it. If you know your stuff, you can also see the nods to Yes and The Clash in the kids' attire. The song the band performs, fittingly titled "School Of Rock," is a lot like the movie itself: it's filled with rock cliches, but its youthful rebellion and energy more than make up for it. It certainly beats much of what's on the radio today, just as the movie beats much of what's in your local multiplex. Sometimes good intentions and inspired acting can carry a film, and "School of Rock" is one such example.

For years, I was under the impression that the movie industry had forgotten how to make a truly great film that was not only entertaining to watch, but also insightful and intelligent. Now, at long last, the tide has turned. Film More Entertainment's "The Wild Stallion" is a fine example of what a movie should be. The characters come across as real people, not just cardboard personalities. By the time the film was less than halfway through, I had come to think of both Hanna and CJ as friends that I really cared about.
The cinematography is also stunning, giving viewers ample time to admire the beauty of nature all around them, and the amazing gracefulness of the horses. There is even a believable plot involving a crooked deputy sheriff who is in cahoots with the poachers who are out to capture all of the wild mustangs to sell to big industry for drug testing. That includes the title character, a legendary black stallion that the locals claim is merely a myth, but which we find out very quickly is quite real.
City-girl Hanna has come to take photographs of the majestic animals in their natural environment in the hope that her photos will help raise public awareness of the plight of the wild mustangs. But when some shots of the elusive black one are accidentally developed, word gets around and the poachers come a'running.
If you are expecting in-your-face morality lessons, however, you will not find those here. This film is gentle and non-violent in nature. It makes its point without having to beat anyone over the head with it. The serene natural landscapes and true grace of the animals speaks far more clearly than words ever could.... Religious references are limited only to the use of the term "Judas Horse," a horse used by the poachers which intermingles with the wild ones, earns their trust, and then leads them right into the trap. I am not a poacher, but the practice reeks of something they would actually do.
All of the actors should be commended on a job well done. Fans of Connie Sellecca will be hugely rewarded. For the younger viewers who admire Miranda Cosgrove from Nickelodeon programs such as "iCarly," here is a side of her acting that we've not seen nearly often enough. No outrageous behavior or wild antics. Here she is a very real human being who carries herself in a believable manner. Some credit also must go to charming newcomer Danielle Chuchran, who plays the country-girl who grudgingly befriends her and ultimately shows her the true meaning of family values.
The film has moments both comical and touching, and viewers of all ages will come away from it feeling invigorated and rejuvenated. This one can be enjoyed by young and old alike. There is no profanity or other offensive content. There are even some lovely Special Features, including a 10-minute bit of film footage of wild horses set to music. This piece alone is worth the price of the DVD. It also has a still photo gallery with over twenty full-color photographs, some of which even include the film crew.
I was sorry that it did not feature a catchy theme song by either Sellecca or Cosgrove, but that is the only real complaint I can state about this cinematic gem. Stop wasting your time reading reviews and order this movie now.

I like most kinds of music, so after liking the iCarly CD (got for theme song), I decided to try this one. It was actually a lot better than I was expecting. The CD varies a good bit so it isn't just one type of music for all the songs, which is always nice. Kissin U sounds much better off the CD then I did on Nickelodeon for some reason =P While no songs really stand out as "6 Stars", most of them are 5 or 4 Star songs. Either way, it makes a nice playlist on my MP3 player and is currently one of my favored playlists.

If you liked the first 2 DVDS, this one will not dissapoint.

In 2009, the Disney Channel featured a crossover trilogy featuring their top sitcoms "Wizards of Waverly Place", "The Suite Life" on Deck" and "Hannah Montana". Needless to say, this rare crossover was a big ratings winner for Disney as over 9.3 million viewers tuned into the crossover episodes. And now, all three episodes are featured on DVD with "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana".

Here is a listing of the episodes featured on the DVD and brief summary of the episode:

* Wizards of Waverly Place - Episode 25: Part 1 - Cast-Away (To Another Show) - In this episode, Justin wins a contest for a teenage cruise to meet London Tipton. Excited about the contest and excited about meeting London, Justin's sister Alex and Max come along. But with Alex, due to her missing homework, she is expected to study on the ship so Alex comes up with an idea: To bring Harper along and have her pretend she's Alex, while she has fun with Bailey and uses the alias Ashley Olsen. Meanwhile, Max finds a rival on the cruise, Zach Martin. Meanwhile, Justin meets London but pretends he's a doctor. This episode features a crossover with the characters of "Wizards of Waverly Place" and "Suite Life on Deck".
* The Suite Life on Deck - Episode 21: Part 2 - Double Crossed - Hannah Montana is going to perform on the SS Tipton and Cody tries to impress Bailey by trying to get tickets (despite the concert being sold out). Meanwhile, someone turns Justin blue and Mr. Moseby thinks its Zack, while Justin thinks its his sister Alex. This episode features a crossover of characters from all three shows.
* Hannah Montana - Episode 19: Part 3 - Super(stitious) Girl - Miley, her father Robby Ray and Lilly are onboard the SS Tipton for her concert.... But Miley has a setback when she loses her deceased mom's anklet and Miley doesn't think she could perform as Hannah Montana without it. Meanwhile back at home, Jackson, Oliver and Rico open a package meant for Robby. This episode features a crossover of "Hannah Montana" and "The Suite Life on Deck".

VIDEO & AUDIO:

"Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana" is presented in Full Screen (1:33:1) and is presented in Dolby Digital Surround Sound. For the most part, picture quality is better than the broadcast. Everything was good, although a segment in the "Hannah Montana" episode during a scene which involved Jackson and friends, picture quality looked quite blurry. But for the most part, all three episodes look good on DVD. As for audio, audio is clear and understandable. Personally, I found it much more appealing to have the audio on my receiver set for stereo on all channels.

Subtitles are featured in English SDH and Spanish.

"Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana" comes with the following special features:

JUDGMENT CALL:

For Disney Channel fans of the original sitcoms "Wizards of Waverly Place", "Suite Life on Deck" and "Hannah Montana", to see a crossover with the three shows is quite rare and exciting for the fans. Well, technically the only episode to feature characters from all three shows is in the second episode "Double Crossed" and for some reason, the cast of the "Wizards of Waverly Place" and "Hannah Montana" do not interact in any of the episodes. Nevertheless, the storylines do tie the characters of each show together.

For the most part, fans of the three-episode crossover can't find anything wrong with this release. For the most part, all episodes are quite entertaining, hilarious and family friendly. I watched the DVD along with my son who enjoyed the crossover when it first aired on television and was excited to see it all over again.

As for the crossover episodes, I did feel that Brenda Song's character London Tipton ("Suite Life on Deck") was a bit too uncaring and self-centered in the special crossover episodes, especially on the "Hannah Montana" crossover episode. But there were a good number of enjoyable scenes throughout the three episodes. I found it interesting to see Bailey and Alex hanging out, Justin and London on a date, Zack and Max square off against each other, Cody and Harper enjoying their intellectual side of each other and more. Also, for "Suite Life on Deck" fans who wanted to see Cody and Bailey grow closer, those fans get to see how it all happens.

The added bonus features on the DVD was a nice touch but I wish they were much longer but for the most part, fans of this special crossover will be entertained by them.

Overall, "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana" was a fun, entertaining and hilarious DVD. Each crossover episode is fun for the entire family and for fans of each series series, overall this DVD release is quite solid. Definitely check it it out!

* EPISODE 48 - "iTwins" - Carly and Sam are known for pranking Freddie but when Sam's twin sister Melanie (the total opposite of Sam) comes to visit, Freddie thinks Sam is trying to pull a prank by making up a fake story of having a twin sister.
* EPISODE 57 - "iMove Out" - After Freddie's overprotective mom embarrasses him in front of his classmates, Freddie has had enough and moves out of his home.

And the episodes featured in "iCArly - iSaved Your Life" feature Freddie kissing Carly, having kissed Samantha, etc. So, these are young teenage situations but again, it is up to parents if they mind that or not.

My daughter loves watching iCarly on Nickelodeon. When I told her that we were getting the book, she was ecstatic!

The book is comprised of online access, as well as a full color book.

WEBSITE

The hardcover book contains a stylish iCarly webpass collectible charm with the password to a special section of the iCarly website. There are 5 sections based upon the 4 main characters: Sam, Carly, Freddy, Spencer. There are various games, printable graphics and even a detention slip to print out. The website is well designed without a lot of advertisements, as other children's websites can have. The song in the special section is the same, and repetitive, but my daughter did not mind it. Thankfully, you can toggle the music off.

There is a link to the main website that includes blogs, games, pictures, videos, news and newsletters. There are no chatrooms so this site is safe for children. The appropriate level of children who would appreciate this book and site is 7 years through 12 years. The reading level of the book is about a second grade reading level.

THE BOOK

The book has full color photos and nice graphics. It is more of an 'insider's guide' to the characters and the show, rather than a story or informational book. This book serves as more of a directory of online activities.

SUMMARY

This is a nice addition to a child's activities who has internet access. If you are weary of what is on the internet, this is a safe site. No outside links or annoying popups.

This title is well worth a look.
